Exciting Momentum in Edmonton: Join the Unifor Movement!

We’re thrilled to see the progress you’re making in joining the growing family of Unifor members across the country! The rate of membership cards coming in from Edmonton is fantastic, but we know there’s still work to be done to ensure every one of you can enjoy the benefits of a strong, collective voice at the bargaining table.

Joining a Strong Network of WestJetters

When you sign your membership card, you’re joining your colleagues in YVR, YYC, and YYZ who are already benefiting from Unifor representation. Together, they’re building a workplace where their voices are heard, their contributions are valued, and their futures are secure.

The AEA (Airports Employee Associations) are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Besides Edmonton, the only remaining group tied to this outdated system is the Ramp teams in YYZ and YYC. But here’s the good news—Unifor’s application for certification for that group is moving forward, with a Case Management Conference scheduled with the Canada Industrial Relations Board on November 29.

Why Momentum Matters

The faster we build momentum in Edmonton, the sooner you can experience the benefits of being part of Unifor, including:

  • Job security and protections from outsourcing.
  • Better wages, benefits, and working conditions through collective bargaining.
  • A stronger voice in decisions that affect your work and your future.

Let’s Keep It Going

Every membership card signed is a step closer to achieving these gains. If you haven’t yet signed your card, now is the time to join this movement for positive change. If you’ve already signed, thank you—keep spreading the word and encouraging your coworkers to do the same.

We’re here to support you every step of the way. Together, we’ll ensure Edmonton joins the rest of the Unifor family, where you too can enjoy the strength and security of a collective agreement.

Reminder: Membership Card Updates

If you signed your membership card more than six months ago, please remember that you’ll need to update your card to ensure it’s current. Additionally, if you did not complete the second step—filling in the Adobe digital membership form and paying the $5 fee, as required by law—your membership is not yet complete.

If you’re unsure about your status or need assistance with any step, please connect with an organizer to confirm your membership. We’re here to help you every step of the way.

Together, you’re stronger. By joining Unifor, you’re contributing to a movement that ensures every WestJet worker has a fair voice and a strong advocate at the table.
