We are excited to share that our organizing campaign continues to gain momentum. Each day, we receive more membership cards from WestJetters committed to building a better workplace through unionization.
We understand the high levels of stress and burnout many of you face due to intense working conditions, including the extremely limited 6 seconds between calls. We have heard your concerns loud and clear. In Unifor collective agreements, we prioritize protecting workers from unrealistic workloads. For instance, our Air Canada agreement for call centre agents includes provisions that address similar challenges. While Air Canada aims for a 7-second interval between calls, the critical difference is the robust language in place to prevent disciplinary action for missing KPIs. This protection is further strengthened by the ability to bring forward concerns during union-management meetings.
Here are some specific issues we can address through a strong collective agreement:
- Rates Hold/Disconnection
- MOD Visibility
- Clarification of Phone Abuse vs. Agent Disconnect
- Manager Meeting Notes
- Cool Down Time Between Calls
- Access to Cosmos and GUI
- Group Leads
The assurance of no KPI-related discipline is a significant advantage. By joining Unifor, you gain the peace of mind that comes with our extensive experience in the airline and call centre industries across Canada. You can trust that your best interests will be well-represented in a strong, fair agreement.
WestJet has shown itself to be out of touch with the realities faced by call centre agents. The pressures from new fares and fees often fall directly on your shoulders, without adequate representation to address your concerns. It's worth asking: Are the internal associations truly advocating for you?
We encourage you to continue supporting our campaign. Together, we can create a workplace where your well-being and professional satisfaction are prioritized.
