“I don’t want to wake up and face uncertainty every day.”

That is what Karla, one of 800 WestJet call centre workers in Calgary, shared as she watches jobs continue to move overseas.

Over the past year, more than 400 roles have already been shifted to TELUS Digital agents in El Salvador.

For workers here, this is not abstract. It is about stability, fairness, and the ability to plan for the future. It is about knowing that your job, your income, and your working conditions are not subject to sudden change without your voice being heard.

This is why workers are organizing.

A strong union ensures that decisions that impact workers are not made unilaterally. It creates enforceable protections, transparency, and a collective voice to address issues like outsourcing, scheduling, and working conditions.

Unifor represents 320,000 workers across Canada, including thousands in aviation. Together, those workers have secured meaningful protections and a real say in their workplaces.

The situation facing Contact Centre workers today reinforces why that collective strength matters.
