No profit share again. Let’s talk about what workers can count on
WestJet workers,

You have now heard the latest update. There will be no profit share payout this May.
For many of you, this is not new. It is another reminder that profit sharing is not something you can rely on. It goes up and down based on decisions and factors that are outside of your control, yet it directly impacts your income and your ability to plan.
At the same time, you are being told that the business fundamentals remain solid.
That raises a fair question. If the business is strong, why are workers not seeing predictable returns for the work they do every day?
This is where a collective agreement changes everything.
With a union, you are not dependent on discretionary programs like profit sharing. You have the ability to negotiate:
Guaranteed wage increases set out in a collective agreement:
• Increases that happen year after year, not only when the company decides
• Predictable earnings that you and your family can plan around
• Clear language that protects your wages and working conditions
Profit sharing can still exist. But it becomes what it should be, a bonus on top of a strong and dependable foundation, not a substitute for it.
Right now, many of you are being asked to accept uncertainty as normal. It does not have to be that way.
Workers at WestJet across the country have already taken steps to secure better protections and more predictable outcomes through collective bargaining. YEG has the same opportunity, but it takes a majority of you stepping forward together.
We know that many of you have already signed cards. We also know that some are still considering their next step.
If you want dependable wage growth, real transparency, and a voice in how your workplace is run, this is the moment to get involved.
