We are pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the position of Collective Bargaining Representative exclusively for the Ramp Services team. We are seeking 1 representative from the YYC Ramp Service Agents and Ramp Service Coordinators and 1 representative from the YYZ Ramp Services Agents. This is a vital role that requires dedication, leadership, and a strong commitment to representing your colleagues effectively.
Election Rules and Process
Nominations for the positions will open until Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Noon.
All nominations must be sent via e-mail [email protected] , clearly indicating the member's name and the position they are being nominated for. Members are entitled to self-nominate if they so choose.
Shortly after the nomination process closes, all candidates will be contacted to determine if they wish to stand for the position nominated. They must confirm their wish to stand by 6:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
If an election is required, it will commence at 9:00 a.m. EST on Friday, December 27, 2024, and conclude at 9:00 p.m. EST on Monday, December 30, 2024.
Successful candidates must receive a majority of ballots cast. If a candidate does not receive a majority of votes because more than two people are running for a position, a run-off election will take place.
If necessary, the run-off election will commence at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024 , and conclude at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
The election will be conducted electronically by a neutral 3rd party provider, Simply Voting and details of the vote will be forthcoming. All eligible voters will receive an e-mail with instructions of the voting process and access to their electronic ballot shortly before the vote commences. All results will be posted and emailed at the conclusion of the voting times.
The election will be conducted in accordance with Unifor Policy C-100, Policy Regarding Local Union Election.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for the Bargaining Committee should possess the following attributes and qualifications:

Strong Knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA): An understanding of the current CBA and its applications is crucial.

Leadership Skills: A proven ability to lead and inspire confidence among peers.

Advocacy: A commitment to advocating for the best interests of the Ramp Services team.

Role Knowledge: Familiarity with the responsibilities and challenges of all Ramp Services Agent and Coordinator roles.

Awareness of Working Conditions: A clear understanding of the current status of working conditions and areas for potential improvement.

Collaborative Spirit: A willingness to work closely with the local President, National Staff Representative, and other members of the Bargaining Committee.

Availability: The nominee must be available for the following dates:

January 8, 9, 10, 11: Meetings with the Local President and National Staff Representative bases (8 and 9 in YYZ, 10 and 11 in YYC but more details to follow).
- January 28-February 1: Bargaining sessions in Calgary, with preparation on January 28 and debriefing on February 1 (more details to follow).

Bargaining Context
It is important to note that we are not negotiating a brand-new agreement. The Ramp Services team is being folded into the current agreement, effective until December 31, 2026. However, there are a small number of items that require amendment or addition to ensure the agreement aligns with the unique needs of the Ramp Services team.
