Scheduling Review Committee – Q & A and Extension of Submission Deadline
We sent out a posting on Monday seeking Members to participate in each Bases Scheduling Review Committee. We required two representatives from each Base, 1 FT status and 1 PT status, to represent their co-workers on the Committee. We have also received a lot of questions, which is why we have decided to extend the posting until Monday, October 24th at 1159. We felt that it was necessary to answer these questions to ensure everyone can apply with the information they need.
Q: What is the intention of the Scheduling Review Committee?
A: The intention of the meetings is to meet with the Hub Support Manager and Station Support Senior Manager (or delegates), review the rosters and data and then the Scheduling Review Committee would have time to provide their feedback. The Union Members will also have an opportunity to provide the Company with feedback from the previous scheduling period that can be taken away for the next schedule build. The expectation is that the Union Members will come to the meetings with feedback from the previous schedule release.
Q: What is the rate of pay?
A: You will be paid the rate that you receive in your dedicated role to participate in the SRC.
Q: Will the hours spent on the SRC count towards your minimum hour requirement?
A: Yes, the hours you spend performing the SRC duties will count towards your minimum hour requirement.
Q: Will the SRC hours be built into my schedule or additional hours?
A: If you are on shift the days that the SRC meeting is held, you will be given time off the floor to participate. If you are on a day off, you will be paid for your time from home to participate.
Q: If the SRC meeting falls on my day off, do I have to attend?
A: Yes. This is a commitment one to two times every 8 weeks and if it falls on your day off, you can participate from home with pay.
Q: When are the SRC meetings held?
A: The Scheduling Date Calendar is posted on SharePoint for both Bases. The first Scheduling Review Committee for YVR will be held on Monday, November 28th with following meetings mostly on Tuesdays. Meetings will be held 1 to 2 times in an 8 week scheduling period. The dates for the SRC in Calgary are still being determined but will follow the same pattern as Vancouver's.
Q: Who else is involved in the SRC
A: The Station Support Senior Manager and the Hub Support Managers (or delegates) in each base are involved in the SRC along with the two union representatives. The Executive Board will not be involved in the committee but can provide feedback and guidance as needed.
Q: Do I need a computer?
A: Yes, you will need a computer to participate in the SRC meetings. There could be times that the meeting is held via Teams, and you will need to be able to view the scheduling roster lines via a computer. If access to a computer is a barrier for you to participate, the union will ensure you have access to one.
Q: I’m not good at cover letters or resumes. Is the job awarded based on that?
A: Absolutely not. We want this to be an equal opportunity for all Members who are interested. We do not need a resume or cover letter from you but a couple of sentences about why you think you’d be a good candidate for the SRC, outlining some experience you may have had in the past and why you are interested in the Committee. You can send it to us via email [email protected] . It does not need to be formal, but it should be professional and clearly outline your abilities, interest, and knowledge.
