Standing Together for Stability and Respect at Work

Unifor extends best wishes to WestJet workers in Edmonton as we enter 2026 and recognizes the ongoing effort workers are making to improve their workplaces. Aviation workers in YEG understand the importance of job security, fair scheduling, and clear rules that protect them from arbitrary treatment or sudden changes.
Across WestJet, workers are actively choosing to come together through Unifor. Applications to join Unifor have been filed on behalf of Crew Schedulers, and close to 800 Contact Centre employees are currently working toward certification. This growing momentum reflects a clear desire among WestJetters for fairness, stability, and a stronger collective voice on the job.
Workers should not be distracted by a few loud voices in Edmonton that seek to discourage unionization. The reality is that many WestJet employees across the country are choosing the union because they want real job protections, improvements in wages and benefits, and a strong future where workers have a meaningful say in decisions that affect their livelihoods.
Unifor is committed to supporting WestJet workers in Edmonton because of our long standing role representing aviation workers across Canada. Through collective bargaining, Unifor members have secured stronger protections, better compensation, and greater workplace stability. With organizing activity continuing across WestJet, Unifor remains proud to stand with YEG workers as they work to join together as members of Unifor and build a stronger future together.
