Greetings

Thank you to everyone who has put their name forward to participate in the Local Union Executive Board Elections for Local 531.

Congratulations to those acclaimed in their new roles, and good luck to the candidates participating in the elections.

We encourage others to watch for more opportunities shortly for more ways to participate in supporting your local in other ways.

The deadline for those nominated to stand for election and accept the nomination closed on Thursday, September 22 at 6:00 PM PDT/ 7:00 PM MDT, Thursday, September 22, 2022.

Candidates nominated were notified by email and text message advising them of the process to notify Unifor of their intentions by the defined deadline. Several nominees did not respond to the nomination and are therefore ineligible to be a candidate in the election.

Elections for Communications Officer and District Chairperson YVR

Election will commence at 9:00 a.m. PDT/10:00 a.m. MDT Friday September 23, 2022 and conclude at 12:00 p.m. PDT/1:00 p.m. MDT Sunday September 25, 2022.

Successful candidates must receive a majority of ballots cast.

The election will be conducted electronically by a neutral 3rd party provider, Simply Voting and details of the vote will be forthcoming. All eligible voters will receive an email with instructions on the voting process and access to their electronic ballot shortly before the vote commences. All results will be posted and emailed at the conclusion of the voting times.

The election will be conducted in accordance with Unifor Policy C-100, Policy Regarding Local Union Election.
