To all Unifor Local 531 members, Vancouver and Calgary locations

(Update) Local 531 Local Union Executive Board Elections

We have received some questions and inquiries regarding the election, and we are providing our responses.

Executive boards are comprised to ensure the group they represent, is properly administered in adherence to the Local Union bylaws, and the National Union constitution and to ensure the members' interest is properly represented. In addition, the role of EB is to administer and manage the funds and affairs of the local union in accordance with the Local Union by-laws and constitution, assist in the managing of the CBA and participate in and promote the overall goals and objectives of the National Union.

These positions are not full-time, and the executive board would typically meet 6 times a year, and meetings are usually 1 – 2 days. There might be some travel required between Calgary and Vancouver for these meetings, and all expenses and lost time will be covered by the local union. Shorter meetings can be convened via zoom from time to time.

Once these positions are filled, training will be provided,  and National Representatives and other departments are assigned to provide additional resources, guidance and support.

The positions and a description are listed below, and if you would like additional information, please contact us directly at [email protected]
