We would like to provide you with an important update on the ongoing proceedings with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (the Board).

A panel of the Board, consisting of Vice-Chairperson Roland A. Hackl and Members Lisa Addario and Elizabeth Cameron, has reviewed the additional issues raised by Unifor in our reply submission dated March 8, 2024. After careful consideration, the Board has invited WestJet to provide a further reply, which should be strictly limited to the additional issues we have raised.

The timeline set by the Board is as follows:

  • WestJet has until October 10, 2024, to submit its further reply.
  • Unifor will then have until October 17, 2024, to provide a final reply to WestJet's response.

With these timelines now in place, we are optimistic that a decision from the Board will be reached in the coming weeks. Unifor remains fully committed to advocating for the best interests of WestJet Ramp workers. However, until the Board makes a ruling, we are currently unable to legally represent your group or formally assign you to a local union.

We remain hopeful that the Board will consider all evidence before them and make a decision that will allow WestJet Ramp workers to gain the representation they deserve in the near future.

Thank you for your continued patience and support. Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to reach out.

In solidarity,
