We want to provide you with an update on where things currently stand in the certification process for WestJet Contact Centre employees.

Everything is now moving forward through the formal legal process with the Canada Industrial Relations Board. In the coming days, Unifor will receive WestJet’s official response to the certification application, including any comments the employer may raise regarding the proposed bargaining unit description. Once that response is received, Unifor will have the opportunity to file a formal reply addressing the employer’s positions.

This is a normal and expected part of the certification process, and we will continue to keep you informed as each step unfolds.

At the same time, we encourage everyone to continue speaking with coworkers you know are supportive of the union. Please share the link below with them so they can sign up to stay informed and receive official communications directly from Unifor:

We are also continuing to encourage those who have not yet signed a Unifor membership card to do so. Signing a card is an important way to be part of this historic moment for Contact Centre workers at WestJet as we work toward certification. It also ensures that members receive accurate and timely information about what comes next.

Following certification, members will have the opportunity to fully participate in the democratic process of the union, including nominations and elections for your bargaining committee. That committee will be elected by you, the members, and will represent your interests in bargaining. Members will also participate in surveys to help set priorities for collective bargaining.

Thank you for your continued engagement, conversations with coworkers, and commitment to building a strong and united voice at work. We will continue to provide updates as the process moves forward.

In solidarity,
Unifor Organizing Team
