Vacation Changes: What We’re Losing
Management is calling these 2026 vacation bidding changes “enhancements.” Let’s be honest — they’re not enhancements for us. They’re cutbacks. We’re being given fewer options, less flexibility, and absolutely no say.

What we had vs. what we’re getting
-
Self-serve taken away
In 2025, we could manage our own time off in Genesys. That’s being shut down. Management says it’s too much “risk.” The truth? They don’t want us having that control. -
No more single-day vacation bidding
Starting 2026, vacations can only be bid in full-week blocks. If we only want a few days, too bad. That choice is gone. -
Management in control
Leaders will now enter our awarded vacation into Genesys on our behalf. We lose direct access and transparency. -
Randomized awards
The third round of vacation will be handed out by an automated random system. That’s not fairness — that’s luck, and there’s no accountability.
What little remains
-
We can still use Front Loaded Stat Days as single days off, but that’s not new — it’s just the bare minimum they already had to give us.
-
Vacation swaps will still exist, but only in full-week blocks and only if management approves.
Why this matters to us
-
These changes weren’t voted on. We weren’t consulted. It’s a “read and sign” system, not a choice.
-
We’re losing flexibility. No more planning a few days off for family, school, or appointments — only full weeks if the system allows it.
-
Management is putting operational needs first and treating our time like it belongs to them, not us.
Our Bottom Line
We should be able to decide how our vacation works. Instead, we’re being handed a system that gives us less and calls it “improvement.”
This is exactly why we need a collective voice. With a union contract, vacation rules can’t just change because management wants them to. We’d have the right to negotiate and protect our flexibility.
