A core group (inside team) of WestJetters has assisted with sharing information about the union at each base. They have given time to their coworkers, collected membership cards, and answered questions about how the process to join the union works. We can thank them for much of our success and the level of support we have today.

We knew it wouldn’t be easy to bring the union into your workplace, and it wasn’t easy for WestJetters in Calgary or Vancouver either. The amount of time it takes to mobilize your coworkers and the time it takes to have conversations about the union can mount up. All of this on top of your already busy work schedule and responsibilities at home, it can sometimes feel unattainable to give just five more minutes.

As our support grows, so does the number of employees in the workplace. Many new employees have been hired in YYZ, YEG and the Contact Centre, and they are not aware of the campaign to join the union. With your help, we can bring them into the conversation about the union advantage.

Imagine how much further we could be if everyone who supports joining the union took five minutes to assist the inside team? Can we count on you to talk with a coworker?

As always, respect the right’s of your coworkers to be for or against the union. We will patiently work at building support to determine the wishes of the majority.
