Unifor continues to call on the federal government for a comprehensive plan to save Canadian aviation. In this Special to the National Post, Jerry Dias, the national president of Unifor and Goldy Hyder, president and CEO of the Business Council of Canada, join together calling for immediate assistance.

"It is both baffling and tragic that — more than 10 months into the pandemic — the federal government still has not brought forward a comprehensive plan to save the industry from financial collapse" the article explains. Also, it points out that more than 30,000 skilled workers have lost their jobs at Air Canada and WestJet alone.

Unifor will continue to be the voice of workers who need government assistance to ensure a healthy and robust aviation sector's long-term viability. Hard-working Canadians deserve to know that they will have jobs to return to once the pandemic has passed and airline travel rebounds.
