These are uncertain times as our country - the world, really - deals with the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic. Few industries were hit as quickly or as hard as the airline industry, as you all know.

These are difficult times, and all of us could use a hand dealing with the stresses involved and getting through this time, especially as we are cut off from our loved ones and social networks.

Unifor has developed, and will continue to update, information for our members on how to handle the stresses that this crisis is placing on all of us, and is providing direction to the resources already in your community to help you and your family. With this email, we are sharing those resources with you, as well.

It is vital that we all help one another get through this. We have already shared information on Employment Insurance and the new Canada Emergency Response Benefit, but there is more to getting through than simply addressing financial needs, as important as that is. We must also pay attention to the mental health needs of ourselves, our families and our neighbours.

As with the EI and CERB information, please share this mental health information with anyone you think could benefit, whether part of WestJet, Unifor or not. The resources developed by Unifor includes culturally specific resources and help for those facing domestic violence or addiction issues.

Remember, too, to keep checking the sites for updates as more resources and information come available. We will also continue to post updates to unifor.org/westjet. Check in often for the latest developments.
